As Actuary you are based in Amsterdam and covering the European business. This role has an extensive and impactful effect on growth and capital efficiency by using technical provision/SCR models and validation for Europe new legal entities/startups. The role holder will us software to compile and categorize data, make actuarial assumptions and use these to drive actuarial capital modelling and management to support growth for the European business. Likely areas of focus will be capital management and pricing reviews. The role holder may also contribute to reserving from time to time. The role provides a unique opportunity for a successful candidate to work closely with senior management and actively contribute to decision made in the business.
Role holder responsibilities.
responsible for actuarial aspects of QRT for Europe.
responsible for actuarial aspects of ORSA for Europe.
responsible for leading review with external actuarial consultants.
responsible for dotted line from UK capital modelling analysts.
Applies complex and advanced actuarial techniques and expertise to multiple, cross functional projects for existing and new products (such as entity consolidation) between Europe and the UK entities.
Utilizes specialized line of business, product or functional expertise and broad experience to recommend actuarial methodologies.
Leverages economies of scale by delegating complex work to less experienced analysts using dotted line support from actuarial analysts in UK entities.
Improve company data systems, capital modelling and management, and departmental processes to allow for conversion, enhancements, automation and formal documentation of improvements.
Performing solvency 2 technical provision and SCR modelling in a variety of platforms.
Contributing to experience analysis and assumption setting for the Dutch entities.
Support the group capital management process and reporting.
Working with both internal and external audit.
Contributing to ORSA modelling initiatives for Europe.
Support annual life and general insurance reserve company reporting to the DNB.
Assisting and leveraging relationship with external 1st line consulting actuaries.
Supporting the successful operation of the Solvency and Capital Committee structure where it supports Europe.
Supporting pricing through analysis of appropriate capital requirements and supporting deal ROE metrics for Europe.
University educated Dutch Actuary (or equivalent experience)
Experience in interaction with DNB
Experience of insurance industry experience.
Proficient with Microsoft packages & Actuarial Software.
Experience of Capital modelling techniques specifically in General Insurance e.g. Remetrica (and possibly igloo experience).
Experience of Reserve modelling software and techniques (e.g. ResQ).
Experience of working cross-functionally, ideally incorporating IT development.
Well-developed communication skills, written and spoken. (English is a must; Dutch is an advantages).
Microsoft Office proficiency required to analyze and present actuarial information (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.).
